Unplanned rest day
Whew! This has been a busy week!! Here it is Thursday already and I have some catching up to do.
Been pondering resting, some runners, triathletes, are so driven they rarely take rest days. The older I get (remember I am a grandmother) the more I appreciate and need rest. I want to keep going a long time…so taking care of my body is important! I encourage you to take some rest. Stop and smell the flowers, they are beginning to come up here!!
Monday: Gym day (but only for a bit longer!) started with a 20 minute warm-up on the spin bike, then run home 2.3 miles, working on adding milage slowly.
The afternoon at Vinny’s Gym, it was deadlift day! I really like deadlifts, I really feel strong!! Deadlifts: Warm-up 10 reps @ 65#; 5 reps@ 95#; 3 reps @ 110#; 3 reps @ 120# !!!!! PR!
Then it is Conditioning time! Continuous (no rest) 7 sets, 10 reps each of V-sits; ring rows; bench push-ups; squats.
Whew!
Slept really well…
Tuesday: Rode bike to Vinny’s Gym 10 miles, to watch my husband bench 195#! He is so strong!!
Wednesday: Stayed in bed, slept lousy…no time during the day to do anything. Unplanned rest day!
Thursday:
Run to local Panera, have breakfast with a friend, run home. Total 3.4 miles, 40 min + or -, I forgot to start my watch again on the way home…
Thursday Vinny’s Gym:
Bench press: 9 sets of three with just the bar(45#), controlled down and explosive up (well, sort of explosive…)
Tire rolls and sledge hammer/tire pounds for 20 min rotating. Ending with a Farmers walk with 80# (40# dumbbells)
Have a great weekend!
Happy Easter!
